The story starts (on 5/8) with AT&T trying to pitch it as a $0.99 phone before the weekend starts. (That's right 99 cents for a cellphone). Then it continues (on 5/13) with AT&T no longer offering the phone. Now (on 5/24), in just over two (2) weeks - it appears to be DOA (Dead on Arrival).
To complete the story, the CEO said he would quit (and here), if this is not successful. He has quit - as well as a many HTC executives.
Moral: Don't put your eggs in the Facebook basket.
